Default Real Holidays around the Event

This is for people in the various threads wondering what real holidays occur with the event (or may have prompted it). For the rest of the people not celebrating a holiday during the event, it may just be summersday (for the northern hemisphere).

Here's the holidays during the event that I gathered from wiki.

Here goes:

JUNE 30
Independence Day in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Saints Peter and Paul Day

JULY 1
Canada Day (formerly Dominion Day) - national holiday of Canada
Moving Day in the province of Québec
Memorial Day in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day
Surinam Keti Koti (Breaking of Chains) Day of Liberty; On July 1 1863 slavery was discard.
In Bulgaria, there is a tradition called July Morning dating from the hippy period in 1980s and maybe as far back as the 1970s. Young (and not so young) people from all over the country travel (often hitchhike) to the Black Sea coast to meet the first sun rays on the 1st of July. Naturally Uriah Heep's July Morning is the main refrain. Although the tradition is linked to the hippy movement in America, it is still popular in Bulgaria. Strangely, it seems that there is no such tradition in other European countries.

JULY 2
Originally, in the Roman Catholic Church, the Feast of the Visitation was celebrated on this day, although it has since been transferred to May 31
Palio di Provenzano in Siena, Italy
Feast Day of St. John Regis

JULY 3
Start of the Dog Days
Feast day of Saint Thomas

JULY 4
United States and Denmark - Independence Day (1776)
Filipino-American Friendship Day
In astronomy, the approximate date of Earth's aphelion.

JULY 5
Algeria: Independence Day (1962)
Cape Verde: Independence Day (1975)
Czech Republic and Slovakia: Arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Great Moravia (around 863)
Isle of Man: Tynwald Day (1266)
Venezuela: Independence Day (1811)
Church of the SubGenius: X-Day (1998)

cool (pun intended lol) :-) I've been there a few times but that's definitely something I wouldn't know. if other people celebrate holidays or even significant regional 'events' then that would be something neat for us to see. please add anything that's not on the list. if you have something of an official holiday then I'd also recommend throwing it into wikipedia..
